This was one of those dreaded test days. The post-test is finished, and we are going to be in the computer lab tomorrow working on something new and part I of the narrative writing. Progress Reports come out Monday, as well!

So, Weebly has not been playing nicely as of late, but it is letting me post things again now. We took our first test today, and I am hoping to have them graded and back to the students tomorrow! I will provide an update about how they did then. We have now moved on to some non-fiction pieces, which is a big change from what we have been reading. The works are about The Troubles in Northern Ireland. One more day of those, probably, and then we will be moving on to Narrative Writing. I am getting pretty excited about that.
We are finishing The Most Dangerous Game as I am typing this right now. We have started with two excellent stories which have given us a lot to think about and discuss. We still have two more fantastic stories to go before the test. A study guide will be coming tomorrow, and I will get it posted on here as well.
Sorry it has been so long since I posted here. I will get better.
We have made it a good chunk of the way through The Most Dangerous Game, and it seems to be going well. We will be in the lab tomorrow signing up for turnitin.com and working on a writing piece. Classic Edgar Allan Poe. That is what we had today. We started our Cornell Notes with the story, and we will finish them tomorrow, along with taking the first pre-test of the year. Busy, busy already.
Also, I hope to see you parents at Open House tomorrow from 6-8! Well, the real schoolwork has now begun. We started prepping The Cask of Amontillado with literary terms and Cornell notes today. We looks at catacombs and the Carnival as story background. We began reading the story, and found out that whatever insult Fortunato threw Montresor's way must have been pretty awful.
Alright, alright, alright! We have made it through three days. Most of the boring stuff is finished now. We have gone over drills and the syllabus. We even made it to the computer lab today! Things are rolling along. Next week, it is going to be a pre-test and a PowerPoint, but then bring on some of the coolest short stories we will read this year. Edgar Allan Poe is just the beginning...
